Every news channel has different ways and tactics of delivering their weather report. Some utilize 3-D images to deliver their report while others use magnetic weather symbols. 1. Get a college degree.
There are a lot of ways to become a meteorologist or a weatherman. But the first and basic thing that every aspiring weatherman should possess is a degree in meteorology or a degree in atmospheric science. There are a lot of universities that offer meteorological degrees. The Florida State University, the University of California and the Penn State University are some of the most outstanding schools that offer these courses.
2. You must be a math whiz.
This is one important trait every effective weatherman should have. You not only deliver the weather to the public but you also need to measure the alignment of the clouds, stars, and the upcoming typhoons or low pressure and measure other parameters. Not only that, you should also be a physics and calculus master.
3. Be people-friendly.
Since you will be delivering the news live via satellite, you must know how to relate well with people. Not only that, you should also be fluent in delivering the weather news to the public.
4. You must also keep up with the latest news.
As a TV weatherman, you are not only to deliver the weather news to the public but you should also do some research about any recent events happening in town for you to deliver a well-informed forecast. Not only that, you should also let the public know when the latest meteor shower, solar eclipse, lunar eclipse visible comets should fall or appear for the people to view in the sky.
5. Be ready to give “mini weather” updates.
If there is an important weather event happening, like hurricanes, thunderstorms or hail storms, you must always be prepared to collaborate with the news anchor to deliver consistent and reliable news to the public.
6. Working on holidays and on weekends.
If you are still a budding weather reporter, be prepared to work on special occasions such as Christmas and New Year. You must also be willing to give up Sunday lunches with your family because you have to be on TV to deliver the latest weather updates. There are also times when you are required to work away from home for several days.
